The Executive Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Senator Bassey Edet Otu, has been honoured with the prestigious “Governor of the Year” award by The Sun Newspaper, in recognition of his outstanding leadership, people-centred governance, and transformative development strides across the state.

The award was presented yesterday at a well-attended ceremony held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, as part of The Sun Newspaper’s annual leadership and excellence awards.

According to the organisers, the Governor was selected following a rigorous editorial evaluation of governance performance nationwide, with emphasis on measurable progress, inclusive development, and visionary leadership.

Since assuming office, Governor Otu has championed strategic initiatives in infrastructure renewal, tourism revitalisation, agricultural expansion, youth empowerment, and investment promotion, positioning Cross River State as a model of purposeful governance and sustainable development.
